The Hungry Caterpillar
We are a family run traditional greengrocer. We have been established just over two years. The village of Dipton had seen a decline in retail outlets over the last few years, our aim when we opened was to turn this trend around, providing the local community with a retail outlet which would enable them to have easy access to a wide selection of high quality fresh fruit and vegetables.
Fruitful Durham
We are Amy, Julian, Valentina and Fiona.
Established in the summer of 2012, our co-operative Community Interest Company puts local surplus fruit and vegetables to good use, and increases access and availability of fruit and vegetables in the community.
Burnhopeside Hall Farm
Free range hen, duck and goose eggs, and outdoor reared pork, sold at local farmers markets and local retail
outlets. Also a walled garden where salad and vegetable crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce are grown.
Cross Lanes Organic Farm
A new green venture working towards an eco friendly way of living with organic, local and green thinking at the heart of everything we do. Bread and pizzas are made daily in our wood fired oven, and we serve simple rustic dishes made with local, organic and seasonal ingredients, all cooked fresh to order using traditional cooking methods.

Lowfields Farm Shop
Lowfields Farm Shop and Cafe offers the perfect destination for a day trip out for the family. Whilst mum may browse around the shop stocked with our own beef, pork, lamb and local vegetables, dad may relax reading the newspapers provided, whilst the children can play outside on the adventure playground.
Medieval Ulnaby
The farm shop and cafe are situated just three miles west of Darlington, on an old medieval village site which once hosted a Time Team visit. There is a permissive route through the buried medieval village where people can stroll and see our rare breeds of traditional cattle. We also have a play area for children and tractor and trailer rides can be arranged for groups.
